Folio 77v. Stepney to Blathwayt. Refers to a 'very kind letter' he had from Eberhard von Danckelmann, chief minister at Berlin, in which he wrote 'mon frère [Nicholas Bartholomew, Brandenburg envoy to Vienna, returning tither from a short-stop at Berlin] vous marquera ce que nous avons trouvé à propos sur votre sujet et ce que j'écris sur la même en Angleterre', which he, Stepney, interprets as a suggestion that he should return to Berlin where neither England nor the States General have at present diplomatic representatives since [Dr Johan] Ham's transfer to Dresden.
