Folio 94v. To Robinson. Writes about his recent experiences, disappointments and frustration. The elector had arranged for his entry into Vienna on June 15/25. Hopes his allowance of £4 p.d., having passed the privy seal, will continue. Concerning countess Königsmarck, concludes: 'Your countess Königsmarck was the favourite till the last minute. The elector supt with her the night before he went away [from Karlsbad] and dined with her just before parting: you may easily guess what they did betwixt meals. I do not envy the choice he has made, but as soon as his back was turn'd, I thought it charitable to comfort the afflicted and found the black eyes not thoroughly dryed. She is return'd to Dresden with Mr Schöning on whom the elector has reposed the 2 mighty trusts, his mistriss & his government'.
