Folio 45v. To [Edmond] Poley First four paras identical with those of the foregoing letter to Dr Montague (see f.44, ante) as indicated by the heading in Stepney's hand: 'Mr Poley. Taken out of the foregoing letter as farre [as] my life is concern'd mark'd X'. Requests information on the 'manners of living at Ratisbone and what manners I must take to legitimate & introduce myself there'. Blathwayt had asked him for copies of all papers he may [Editor's italics] have 'recommending, or relating to, any of the King's ministers who have been employ'd at Ratisbone' so that his [employment] 'may be formed on the same modell'. Does not think there ever were any credentials and at any rate he has no such papers. Will ask Vernon to search for them at the Office, and asks Poley to advise Blathwayt, enclosing the letter 'under a covert to Mr Egar', if possible under a flying seal so that Vernon may use it before forwarding it to Flanders.
