Gen Wade, on the difficulty of searching Lewis for arms which the Russian ships might have landed: "that tract of islands are above a hundred miles in length, and so remote from the main land that a voyage to Norway would be less dangerous and performed in a much shorter time". Recommending that those waters should be patrolled to stop communication between rebels abroad and those in the Highlands; reporting information from Rob Roy concerning Jacobites sent to prevent the highlanders giving up their arms; and on the work to construct new barracks at Inverness and [Kilcumein]
