Jacobite prisoner's experiences in the rebellion. A bitter account of the invasion of Lancashire and of the incompetance of the Jacobite leaders, and Forster in particular, "our generals and lords were all alike, either fools, knaves and cowards or all three (except the earls of Winton and Derwentwater and the Lord Nairn who were all very right and firm)". Detailing the events of 9-13 Nov in Preston and on the betrayal of the Jacobite army, "I believe this is the first instance of a victorious army after action, yielding themselves prisoners to the vanquished."
