Folio 28: Wich to Carteret. Dispatches from Dresden to Saxon ministers report King of Prussia's peace and how King of Poland regards it. Saxons are angry at no apparent advantage to them, dissatisfied by article obliging them to withdraw from Bohemia 16 days afterthe notification of the treaty, this thought to be inglorious and they wish therefore to make a separate peace. Keyserling Russian minister at Dresden thought to be similarly disposed and will give account of King of Prussia's peace in his letters to Czarina. Gersdorff will do everything to promote plans of France. Not so Petzold, a disgreet sober man. Orders to be sent to Keyserling from the Great Chancellor and Bestuzev to try hard to induce Saxony to accede to the treaty and reject thoughts of making separate peace with Queen of Hungary. Russian ministry's disposition fairly obvious but inclinations of Czarina not so positive. de la Chetardie is recalled and Gersdorff talks of leaving also. Then Czarina may be prevailed upon to follow HM's actions in spite of open and secret enemies intriguing against us. Enclosing paper containing reasons which may induce Republic of Poland to enter a General Confederacy. Dated Moscow, 19 July 1742.
