Description

Folio 177: Wich to Carteret. F.123 received and communicated as ordered to the Brothers Bestuzev and the vice-chancellor intends to inform the Czarina today. As Lestock is attached to de la Chetardie and the interests of France communication of these intelligence have been avoided. He persuaded Czarina at the beginning of her reign to write to French King asking him to mediate between Russia and Sweden. Lestock since the failure of this, has fallen out with the Bestuzev's especially the Grand Marshall. Continual endeavours on my part towards hastening of decision by Carina - de la Chetardie talking of returning to France and maybe Lestock will them feel more confidence in me. Dated Moscow, 10 June 1742.
