Folio 170: Wich to Carteret. Unexpected arrival of Count de Saxe. Different motives attributed to his coming to Moscow. General belief that he solicits this court not to oppose his interest in Duchy of Courland. Czarina has favoured the Prince of Hesse Homburg to whom she has some obligations, but no surprise if she takes a different part, as this court is rarely steady in anything but pleasures, with a further excuse given by this new guest. Battle fought between Austrians and Prussians at Gaslaw in Bohemia recommenced day following but we hear no account of outcome. Dated Moscow, 3 June 1742.
