Folio 164: Wich to Carteret. Countinuous pleasures Fatiguing but ending tonight with masquerade and fireworks. Information soon on intentions of Czarina relating to our treaty. Will transmit decision as soon as possible. It will take time for Russia to declare itself in favour of Queen of Hungary. General Botta pleased with my efforts towards her. Account received of engagement in Bohemia between Austrian and Prussian armies. Mardefeld says Prussians have claimed the victory, but impartial sources say action not decisive. Our friends pleased that first troops have embarked for Flanders. Partizans of France have contrary feelings. Dated Moscow, 31 May 1742.
