Folio 195: Finch to Harrington. Although despatched to Count Lowenhaupt, Chevalier Crepi desired to see battle of Elephants, (two animals butting each other like rams) which showed that 18 hours delay meant things not so settled between the two crowns. Diedron not back yet. Czarina shows picture of young Duke of Holstein. Both beautiful and weakly. Account of Czarina's health, and attitude to young prince. Count Osterman's examination is nearly over. Some think he will not be executied, only banished for life. Things go on well without him but Czarina has only reigned 4 weeks. Chance perhaps if war continues. Court of Justice here means Inquisition before which Field Marshal Munnich appeared today. Dated St Petersburg, 22 Dec 1741.
