Folio 187: Finch to Harrington. (A) Czarina 33 years old yesterday - my ill health made attendance to dine impossible. Lestock made Privy Counsellor with pension of 7000 roubles and director of Medicine College, without title of Archiator. Also received her portrait worth 20,000 roubles. Princess of Hesse Homburg also appeared for the first time. Old Field Marshal Dolgorukov made Senator and President of College of War. Baron Osterman ordered to return from this court and is selling effects and preparing for journey. Account of additions to Life Guards and description of new uniforms. Prince Lewis' departure from here will be proof that the Travellers have reached Riga. Crepi's departure delayed until after a combat of Elephants before the Palace, planned for tomorrow afternoon. Now hear he is to leave tonight. Expectation of uncertain peace before spring. Dated St Petersburg, 19 Dec 1741.
