Prince Cerkasskoi and Privy Counsellor Bestuzev now in charge of foreign affairs as vice-chancellor. Admiral Count Golovkin and master of the Horse Prince Kurakin now ministers of Conference. Privy Counsellor Brevern remains in charge of Foreign dispatches - when complimenting the Vice Chancellor later, I pointed out my different position here to any other foreign minister and asked for a Conference to have authentic explanation for HM's information. Letter duly sent. No reply as yet. Crepi and Lowenhaupt make a virtue of necessity from the fact that the Swedish army has retired. Persian ambassador had audience. Varied accounts and contradictions of previous information. Fate of state prisoners unknown but Czarina declares she will not start her reign with blood. Osterman ill. French minister still first minister here. Dated St Petersburg, 15 Dec 1741.
