Folio 159: Finch to Harrington. Russia hoping for immediate peace according to Czarina's declaration and Sweden hoping for recovery of lost provinces. Information about Swedish general with whole force assembled 25 miles from Vyborg, doing nothing, except dispatching and receiving couriers, and Russian regiments ready to march at a moments warning to any place Swedes may penetrate. De la Chetardie seems to be Czarina's Chief counsellor and Prime Minister like the Duke of Courland in the last reign. Firstly will endeavour to conclude peace between Sweden and Russia, and then either drop or resume the late negotiation. Various accounts about Count Lowenwolde, General Albreit and Prince of Holstein. Prince Golicyn returned from disgrace in Astrakan and graciously received by Czarina. Turkish Ambassador made farewell bow. Order published by Beat of Drums regarding Field Marshal Munnich, his son, Counts Osterman and Golovkin and President Mengden. Doubts as to execution, banishment to Siberia or general confiscation. Examination started three days ago, whether with torture uncertain. Plea for letters of revocation. Dated St Petersburg, 8 Dec 1741.
