Folio 125: Finch to Harrington. A Russian party is being formed largely by Botta's intrigues with Count Golovkin at the head, in opposition to Count Osterman and indirectly to the Duke. Osterman has recommendation from physicians to go immediately to Spa for recovery of his health. The Duke and Osterman pressing me to talk to Great Duchess, hoping one foreign minister may help to mend what another has spoiled. I have refused, but am pressed so far as to promise to do so if an opportunity arises. Dated St Petersburg, 14 Nov 1741. Separate and secret.
