Folio 50: Finch to Harrington. Count Osterman refuses to procure my Audiences of leave until the answer arrives to the papers transmitted by Brettel. Therefore am forced to remain here to the prejudice of my health. If this fruitless commission and my ill health could have been foreseen my reluctance to undertake it would only have been overcome in obedience to HM Disposal of Swedish prisoners still uncertain. Count Lowenhaupt to publish manifesto in Finland and possibly distribute it here too. mainly calculated to foment internal discontents here. Two dispatches arrived two days ago from Sir Everard Fawkener. The first a copy of the plan agreed on for a final convention - Extract of Sir Everard's letter with account of audience of Resident from Count of Vienna. Dated St Petersburg, 22 Sept 1741.
