Folio 107: Finch to Harrington. Account of entry of Turkish ambassador and his retinue - comparison with similar at Vienna. Prince of Brunswick, newly elected Duke of Courland, also arrived here yesterday. I have enquired via Cram when I can wait on him. General Spiejal has desired his dismissal from this service and it seems it will be agreed. Description of galleys at Kronstadt De Swart here and Rumpf in Stockholm have presented memorials about unease at signs here and in Sweden of military build-up and the affliction it would cause the States General if Peace of North be disturbed. Dutch offer to mediate. Turkish ambassador had audience of Prince Generalissimo today. Fears that the Turkish and French ambassadors may come together and embarrass court here. Dated St Petersburg, 30 June 1741.
