Folio 91: Finch to Harrington. Shall prepare Count Osterman on the impossibility of HM sending an English squadron More difficult to convince him than Prince Scerbatov could, and money equivalent will not be relished by the Count. They want this actual help, even before the rupture exists. How ratifications appear not to be exchangeable. Letters from Mitau reporting Korff as marshal for the imminent election for Duke of Courland. Dieskan has made a formal protest, by notary public, in Count Saxe's name. Courland declared that Saxe's pretended election had long been annulled and this was immediately insinuated to Dreskau who then left for Dresden and lodged there with de la Chetardie. Everyone thinks what he did was mostly with that ministers advice. Prince of Brunswick here soon. Description of visit to Kronstadt with Bachoff and Cram and reception by salute of 21 guns. Great Duchess's term up next month and if letters of revocation not to hand in time to take my leave before that, I will not be able to leave and will miss the summer for my journey and the season at Aix-la-Chapelle and Spaa. Dated St Petersburg, 23 June 1741.
