Description

Folio 45: Harrington to Finch. Received notification of birth of prince of Brunswick. Deliver answer herewith with proper compliment. On the necessity of gaining king of Prussia nothing is to be added to that which I have informed you; and HM has advanced the money asked for to be employed in Sweden. More only after the diet when sure of success of common views. Never reasonable that HM should bear equal charge. He was willing to take our share of burden, but union of France and Sweden immediately threatens Russia which means he cannot be expected to contribute as much as Czarina. Dated Hanover, 15 Sept 1740.
