Folio 194: Rondeau tp Harrington. Suggested to Count Osterman in conversation that you were apprehensive that Russia did not wish to to settle a defensive alliance with us, as examining our project has been so long delayed. Osterman assured me that Russia wanted nothing more than a strong lasting alliance and the delay was occasioned by the orders for the army and the preparations for the wedding of Princess Elizabeth. Account of raid by Calmuks against Kuban Tartars. Dated StPetersburg, 19 May 1739.
