Description

Folio 180: Rondeau to Harrington. Wedding preparations. Baron Crame here with several fine presents for the princess and 4 gentleman of the bedchamber for the prince of Wolfenbuttel, with several pages and footmen. Many galleys ordered to be ready for sea as soon as possible. Count Osterman asked if I heard that French and Prussian ministers at the Hague had frequent conferences making the states general somewhat uneasy. I had not, but he willingly allows the information to be imparted to you without saying it came from him. Czarina has gone to the Summer Palace although the ice is still floating in the river and not a green leaf to be seen on the trees. Dated StPetersburg, 8 May 1739.
