Folio 91: Harrington to Rondeau. English courier arriving at St.Petersburg gives rise naturally to suspicion, and there or in London it would be taken for granted that a treaty must be afoot. Meanwhile, Russia appears particularly cool; after all her protestationson this transaction, she now delays, using the excuse of more pressing business, whereas if she were really sincere, in wanting to conclude it, nothing would appear of greater consequence. So far we see no proof of Osterman's declaration that Russia was trying to get out of France's hands HM disturbed at lack of news from Czarina about her niece's wedding and that he had to hear it publicly from Von Brackel at Vienna. Dated Whitehall, 24 Apr 1739.
