Folio 89: Rondeau to Harrington. Count Osterman in a minute's conversation, said he had heard our defensive alliance was talked of in London, which surprised him as it was meant to be secret until it was concluded. Russia might be hurt if it was known now, as she was trying to get out of hands of France. Assured him information groundless, as it had always been secret and all matters passed in cypher. It is thought the princess's marriage with prince of Bevern will be declared soon. She is growing fat, which may prevent her having children. PS. Czarina has declared Prince Cerkasskoj major of her horse-guards and marshal to Princess Anne, Count Czermetoff, a chamberlain, Prince Gagarin, a gentleman of the princess's bed-chamber. Appears as if whole household soon formed. Dated StPetersburg, 31 Mar 1739.
