Folio 73: Rondeau to Harrington. General Botta says Emperor declines to accept the million roubles offered by Czarina in lieu of troops, but if Czarina will lend that amount he would willingly borrow it. Suhm says king of Poland plans to give the duke of Courland's proxy, the investiture as soon as Keyserling returns to Warsaw. 20,000 Budzjak and Nogay tartars came to the river Dnieper above Perewoloczna, but were defeated by General Bachmetoff, with regular troops. Baron Safirov has died, esteemed very able in foreign and domestic affairs. Dated StPetersburg, 3 Mar 1738/9.
