Folio 53: Rondeau to Harrington. Count Osterman knew that Fawkener was empowered to resume function of mediator, and assured me that Russia, and he believed Vienna, desired Fawkener and Calkoen to try to get the Porte to agree as well. Osterman tried to excuse Vienna for sending full powers to the French ambassador at Constantinople, my despatch (ff.91/22, f.295) says Villeneuve has no full powers. Conjecture of what Repninsky was carrying when he died at Adrianople of the plague. Dated StPetersburg, 10 Feb 1738/9.
