Description

Folio 260: Harrington to Rondeau. Prince Cantemir will inform Czarina of HM's pleasure in her good fortunes. Events at Okzakow will have contributed to a speedy conclusion. HM glad to know that the Czarina would never desire the assistance of France in her efforts for peace with the Turks. Send information to HM of outcome of conference had by Serasskier of Okzakow with Count Osterman. His distinguished reception at St Petersburg appears to have given no little umbrage at Vienna. Deliver in suitable melancholy manner the letters of notification of queen's death to the Czarina and duke of Courland and put yourself in appropriate mourning. Dated Whitehall, 13 Dec 1737.
