Folio 246: Rondeau to Harrington. Confirmation that Turks are marching to besiege Okzakow. Serasskier of Bender ordered by Grand Seigneur, on pain of losing his head, to retake the town as soon as he knew Field Marshal Munnich was returned to the Ukraine. Then with60,000 Turks and Tartars he lay siege but was repulsed with great losses. Governor of Okzakow assures Czarina that he will hold fast. Garrison in good health, but will need provisions and is a great distance from the Ukraine. The Turks are easily supplied both from Bender and by sea. Secret advice that the Serasskier, taken at Okzakow, has after a six-hour conference with Count Osterman, sent letters to Constantinople but their contents are not known. Papers mentioned in ff.230 and 234 enclosed. Dated St Petersburg 19 Nov 1737.
