Folio 224: Rondeau to Harrington. Confidential report of collapse of Congress at Nemirow, occasioned by ill-success of the Emperor's arms in Hungary. The Turks have some advantage over a party of Germans near Vidin and report to Constantinople the total defeat of Emperor's army in Hungary. This has given renewed courage to the Porte. They would renew their treaty with the Emperor only on the same footing as it was before the war, and give to the Russians all they demanded except Okzakow. Persuasion tried to make Russian ministers understand that keeping of Okzakow will cost more than the hurt the Budzhak Tartars could do. Dated St Petersburg 22 Oct 1737.
