Folio 107: Rondeau to Townshend. Nobility dissatisfied with number of foreigners employed by Czarina. Biron, a Courlander who came with her from Mitau is made Great Chamberlain. Osterman is thought to have used new favourites to get hold of management of all affairs. May sacrifice them when no longer needed. Cunningly everyone harmful set aside i.e. Tolstoy, Safirov, Menshikoff and now Vasily Luitz Dolgorukov. Count Golovkin has the title of Great Chancellor but does nothing without Osterman's directions. No orders for Count Wratislaw from Emperor to request march of 30,000 men. Maybe they fear this court will not send them or maybe a general accommodation is being concluded, of which we being so distant have not yet been made aware. Dated Moscow, 11 May 1730.
