Folio 75: Rondeau to Townshend. Visited Osterman who was very civil but with other company. Discourse therefore general. He said on my departure that my company would be most welcome always. Von Ditmer, recently having seen Great Chancellor Count Golovkin, was asked if there would be a war. Their contracts with Vienna would have to be made good. The envoy hoped the Emperor would accede to the Treaty of Seville, but if he did not the Czarina was not obliged to assist him as their treaty was defensive. Russians desire to see end to the dispute. Wratislaw torments them about readiness of 30,000 men which they are unwilling to send, wishing only to live in peace with their neighbours at present. Baron Mardefeld says that all differences between our court and Berlin resolved. This will incline Czarina towards firm friendship with us. Dated Moscow, 9 Apr 1730.
