Folio 69: Ward to Townshend. Coronation in 14 days time will be assuredly most magnificent. Several talks on amity with Osterman, the outcome showing little effect. As am instructed to make no proposals, it is up to you to find out what new reasonable measures should be taken for which they are readily inclined. Osterman acknowledged British trade advantageous to both nations and will look into the matter. Revival of languished woollen manufacutre my next aim. Duke of Liria showed me his last dispatches from Hamburg foretelling accommodation of differences with Prussia. Vienna reports quite contrary. Czarina reported planning visit to St Petersburg and having her fleet on same footing as in Uncle Czar Peter I's time. Dated Moscow, 6 Apr 1730.
