Folio 256: Jefferyes to Tilson. Can give no positive answer to your proposition concerning the Czar landing troops at Lubeck, but certainly the Czar is incensed against HM Although resentful, he will not embark now on war, especially until he has disengaged himself from war with Sweden. If Britain and Sweden make peace without Russia and Prussia care must be taken to put Bremen, Verden and the king of Denmark's part of Pomerania and Rugen in good defensive position, as the Czar and the king of Prussia may join to reduce those countries without concern to the Emperor or Empire. The Czar cares not one single farthing what becomes of the duke of Mecklenburg. Dated StPetersburg, 11 May 1719.
