Folio 106: MacKenzie to Townshend. de Tersell, for some years Captain of a Dutch ship of war, arrived here last Monday from that state and the Czar has offered him a flag to be Rear Admiral; by which he is soon to be recognised. Prisoners arrive here for trial daily. Instigators and accomplices in all the corrupt behaviour - many of them are chief officers Civil or Military. There are a large number of sledges, some to hold 20 persons, some 30, to hold the Czar and those accompanying him to visit Boyars and Noblemen around Christmas time as is customary. Kyken to set out next Sunday for Kazan. Three battalions of the Regiment of Guards ordered to be ready to break camp at an hours warning to march to Novogrod. Change of information, all to stay here till January; three to march as stated, the fourth to be employed in sea service. Dated St Petersburg, 17 Dec 1714.
