Folio 75: MacKenzie to Townshend. Writing without numbers to impart most impact if intercepted. Prince Menshikoff, Admiral Apraxin, Count Golovkin confessed to their crimes and were pardoned for their past guilt but are to make considerable restitution to the Treasury, which it is said will be discounted in taxes to benefit the people. Letters received only day before yesterday, amongst others, the letter from HM to the Czar, dated 27 September. I immediately tried to deliver it but Golovkin only emergant from the storm that day, made excuse for seeing me until the next day. Westphal is on his way here from Denmark as Envoy to join the two others already here from Poland. Dated St Petersburg, 3 Dec 1714.
