Captured ship: Argo (master Thaddeus Gardner).
Nationality: American.
History: bound from Baltimore to Jacmel, Hispaniola, laden with flour, wine, soap, ticklenburgh [linen] and other merchandise; taken on 14 August 1798 by HMS Magicienne (William Ogalvie commanding), and brought into Kingston, Jamaica.
Appellant: Thomas T Percival for the ship and cargo on behalf of himself and Hezekiah Grant merchants of Baltimore in the firm Grant and Percival.
Respondent: the captor.
Manuscript appeal papers: petition for desertion and sentence (manuscript, never printed).
