This series consists of affidavits relating to equity and revenue causes in the Exchequer, formerly retained amongst the working papers of the clerks in court in the King's Remembrancer's Office. Included are affidavits relating to the customs and customs seizures, the lottery, salt duties, taxes, stamps, and coast bonds. A number of the affidavits relate to the failures of sub-postmasters; to defaults by receivers of land tax and debts arising from taxes; to customs and excise revenues; and to defaults on bonds.
