These are petitions on the equity side of the Exchequer brought before the court as a method of initiating certain actions in the course of a suit, including the scheduling of certain kinds of hearings, the authorisation of payments in court, and the rehearing or appeal of a decree.
Most of the documents are dated between 1800 and 1841, but there are also some petitions to sue in forma pauperis, whereby the court provided legal assistance and waived fees, which date from 1627.
