Description (What the record is about)
-
This series contains minute books of decrees and orders of the court of Exchequer, made upon hearing of the cause in the inner chamber of the Exchequer, between 1695 and the abolition of the equity jurisidiction of the Exchequer in 1841. Also included are bills of causes, annotated with the minutes, from the period before the minute books were instituted.
The minutes noted the names of the barons present at the hearing; of the counsel who opened the pleadings; the order and manner of reading the evidence read on both sides; the objections, if any, made to the reading of particular evidence by either party; the allowance or disallowance of those objections; and, finally, the decree of the court.
