Description

This series is a miscellaneous collection of original and draft particulars for grants and leases of lands and offices under the great and other seals found amongst the miscellaneous records of the King's Remembrancer.

The particular was the document that transmitted the information about the value and history of a possession from an officer with that information to the Crown officer, commissioner, or Parliamentary trustee during the Interregnum, with the authority to allow a possession to be leased or granted.

Most of the particulars were produced by the auditors of the Court of Augmentations before 1554, and the Auditors of the Land Revenue thereafter. They relate to the lands and offices of the Crown, the Duchy of Lancaster and those held in the jointures of queen Henrietta Maria and queen Catherine of Braganza. There are also particulars for the sale of Crown lands and fee-farm rents during the Interregnum.

There are some portions of entry books of particulars mainly of the Auditors of the Land Revenue but also in one case of a Commission for Defective Titles. There is also a series of warrants for particulars of the lands of outlaws, or others who had forfeited land by judicial process, addressed to the King's Remembrancer from the Treasury, which date from the reign of Charles I (1625-1649) to 1731.
