Folio 72: Whitworth to Stanhope. Very private. Imprudent to mention yer Whitworth's secret instructions to Prussians. Whitworth feels disenchantment with the Czar will grow: that the King desire's peace with Sweden. Felt Marshal ? (surname ciphered) assures Whitworth that the majority of all sections of Prussian society are weary of friendship with the Czar and wish to unite with Britain and the empire. Treaty waits for arrival of Whitworth's instructions on the article concerning the King of Poland. Unlikeliness of reconciliation between Prussia and Poland. The person who tried to cross Whitworth's negotiation seems to have been the Prince of Anhalt. Possibility of Whitworth's being called to Hanover. From Berlin
