This series consists of an incomplete series of cause books of proceedings (registers of case papers) in the Durham Chancery Court, 1913 to 1948 and 1958 to 1971. Brief details of the case are given, with the names of the plaintiff, defendant, and solicitors. There then follows a schedule of the documents in the case, with accompanying dates. The books are indexed.

Arrangement
Entries are chronological, by year and cause number. The numbering of causes was introduced in 1881 and until 1883 a new numbering sequence began each year. In 1884 a new sequence began, and ran on continuously, in the books at Durham, to cause number 1024 in 1913. The cause books in this series continue the numbering sequence, without a break, at cause number 1025.
