The earlier files, 1920-1972 have been microfilmed and are housed in jackets arranged by Region and Hospital Management Committee (HMC). Individual hospitals are listed under each HMC. Disclaimed Hospitals (i.e. hospitals outside the Health Service) and Boards of Governors' Hospitals are listed separately. Each region is usually prefaced by correspondence with its appropriate Area Nurse Training Committee.
The later, paper files, covering the years 1972-1983 are arranged by Region and School of Nursing with a section on Disclaimed Hospitals. From 1977 onwards correspondence with Regional Nurse Training Committees, Regional and Area Nursing Officers is also included.
