Statistics compiled by the General Nursing Council of nurses entering and leaving the Register.

The statistics in this series consist of those kept by the Registrar's staff and later the Registration Department, the vast majority of which are of admissions to the register, list and roll. There are some pieces from the Index Department, a few from the records section of the Computer and Records Department and the Qualified Nurses Department, and one from the Registration and Records Department.

Throughout its existence the General Nursing Council kept statistics of various types and varying degrees of sophistication which were used in reports to Council on the work of the organisation, to compile annual reports, to justify increases in staff, and, later, for research with the creation of the Research Unit and the advent of computerisation.
