Three boxes of declarations, pleadings, appearances, demurrers and other formal documents relating to cases tried at the Ruthin lordship court between 1732 and 1790, amounting to sixteen bundles.
Most of the cases referred to involve debt (distinguished according to whether they involved more or less than fourty shillings), and most of the remainder, trespass. The pleas of plaintiffs that defendants had not paid their debts as adjudicated by the court are a notable feature of this collection, as are the legal bills of cost for cited cases.
There are also declarations of substitution of one attorney for another. WALE 15/16/1-5 (third box) contain petitions from debtors, usually in gaol and seeking discharge.
