(1) Sketch map of area between Tataraimaka and the Waitara River, inland to Mount Egmont (now Mount Taranaki): shows coastline, Sugar Loaf Islands, rivers, hills; [New Plymouth]. Scale: 2.5 inches to 5 miles [1:126,720]. Compass indicator. (2) Sketch map of area between the Waitara and Waironga rivers, inland beyond Kairau Camp: shows coastline, terrain (rivers, hills, steep river banks, swamps), vegetation; military encampment, blockhouses. Scale: 2 inches to 80 chains [1:31,680]. Compass indicator. Both maps are signed by Octavius Carrington, Surveyor, 9 February 1861, and annotated in ink with War Office registered file reference: (New Zealand): 090/135. Dimensions of sheets: (1) 24 cm x 33 cm; (2) 38 cm x 29 cm.
