1 item, numbered (2), (enclosure in Fredrick Whitaker's despatch no 23 of 9 February 1864 to the Duke of Newcastle) extracted from WO 32/8275. 'New Zealand Province of Taranaki from Waitara to Oeo': map showing terrain, coast, hills (including Mount Egmont - to-day Mount Taranaki), rivers; 'Supposed course of the Manganui'); New Plymouth, towns, place-names; roads, paths; buildings destroyed by the Maori since the commencement of the war, Maori pa, blockhouses, unoccupied military positions, land acquired. Scale: 4.4 inches to 10 miles. Compass indicator. (Signed) Octavius Carrington, Provincial Surveyor, 10 July 1862. Published by Stanford's Geographical Establishment, London, 1863. Grid lines added in pencil. Endorsed with War Office registered file reference '090/520'.
