- 1761 Mar: 97th Regiment of Foot, commanded by Lt Col Stewart, at Andover.
- 1794-1796: 97th Regiment of Foot; returns under command of Lt Col Denzil Onslow at Netley camp (Aug 1794), and Col Sir James Grant at Hilsea barracks (June 1795-Feb 1796).
- 1801 Apr-1802 Sept: HM Queens German Regiment of Foot; colonel: John Stuart; returns under command of Major Charles Gormocan.
- 1808 Jan-1812 Dec: 97th, or Queens German, or Queens Own Regiment of Foot, including detachments; colonel: Thomas Grosvenor; includes returns under command of Major John Wilson and Lt Col James Lyon; some returns from Spain and Guernsey.
