Description

This miscellaneous series of letters and diplomatic documents from the Duchy of Lancaster archive falls into two parts.

First, letters and writs sent to Duchy officers which concerned the day to day administration of the Duchy's affairs.

Second, letters which belonged to the archives of other families, principally those of Bohun and Neville, whose estates were acquired by the Duchy.

Included also are two documents relating to the treaty which John of Gaunt made with the king of Portugal in 1372, and two documents of Mary, Queen of Scots.
