Description

John Gibson, the relator, v. William Forth, clerk, and others. The tithes of St Burian. Whether the church there is the parish church, or is called the King's Free Chapel, College, or Collegiate Church of St Burian? Stating that there are two chapels of ease belonging to it called Sonnon and Levan, and three prebends - the prebend of Trethin, the prebend of Rospennell, and the Little Prebend. Mentioning David Baugh as dean thereof towards the end of the reign of Henry VIII. Alleging that William Gaier, late deceased, had endeavoured to get the said church called a parsonage presentative, and had first inducted his brother, John Gaier, thereto, and afterwards the said Forth. A suit in the Court of Arches by William Fayrechilde against the said Forth concerning the tithes of St Burian. Surrender of leases of tithes, held by Ezekiel Grosse and John Cade, from Forth, to George Leicester, from whom they took new leases. Lands and tenements in St Burian, now in the possession of Edward Noye, which had belonged to the said free chapel or college, granted by Edward VI to Sir Thomas Pomery, kt. Corn.
