Description

Short title: Hopkinson v Potts.

Plaintiffs: Dorothy Hopkinson, Raynes and Walker.

Defendants: Thomas Potts.

Documents: depositions concerning Wirksworth, Derbyshire.

Deponents for defendants: Edward Wingfield of Wikrsworth, taylor, aged 47; Alice, wife of James Guy of Wirksworth, baker, deposed that Thomas Potts was accused by Dorothy Hopkinson of refusing to pay toll for selling bread and other items in the market. She was employed by Hopkinson to gather toll; Elizabeth, wife of Henry Wood of Wirksworth, miner, aged 28, deposed that she questioned the 3d given to her by Potts in her change 'which shee [...] doubted to be good' [which she doubted to be good]; Elizabeth, wife of William Hulley of Wirksworth, miner, aged 26.
