Description

Short title: Attorney General of the Duchy of Lancaster v Wolley.

Plaintiffs: Attorney General of the Duchy of Lancaster [at the relation of Noble and Milner].

Defendants: Wolley or Woolley and Woodward.

Documents: depositions concerning Bonsall, Derbyshire.

Taken 6 June, 11 Charles I

Deponents for plaintiffs: Thomas Plant of Darley, gentleman, aged around 38, whose memory of the River Derwent goes back 14 years [to 1622], deposed that he knows the fishing rights of the Derwent between Beeley and Dovecote and Whatstandwell Bridge. He has heard and believes that the Derwent is not in Bonsall Manor. It is about 6 miles between Beelye Dovecote and Whatstandwell Bridge. It runs through the lordships of Little Rowsley, Darley, Matlock, Cromford, Lea and Alderwasley. He has seen the deed of conveyance of the manor of Matlock from the king to Francis Mosse and others. The feefarm of which is held by the subtenants Arthur Mowre, George Heathcoate and Richard Senior and it is they who are entitled to the rights over fishing; Edward Flint of Cromford, blacksmith, aged around 58.
